Färjestad has suffered a severe injury blow.
Forward star Joakim Nygård will miss the rest of the year due to a hand injury he sustained in Saturday's big win, 7–2 over HV71.
"He sustained a fracture in his hand in Saturday's match. It happened in the second period, but he played on. He tried in the third, but it didn't work", says Mattias Hell, responsible for Färjestad's medical team, in a statement on the club's website.
According to Färjestad, Nygård is expected to be out for over four weeks.
The 31-year-old national team forward has scored 13 points, 7 goals and 6 assists in 19 matches this season.
