A parliamentary investigation will determine whether Farage violated the rules of the House of Commons with the gift.
Ahead of the 2024 election, Nigel Farage received five million pounds (then equivalent to approximately SEK 65 million) from crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne, who lives in Thailand, without reporting the donation. Farage claims that the gift was “purely private.”
The money is far from Harborne's only contribution to Reform; last year, according to The Times, he donated 12 million pounds to the party.
On Wednesday, the government introduced a bill that would limit foreign political donations to a maximum of 100,000 pounds.
