Like the final in the Netherlands earlier in March, the 30-year-old set a seasonal best in the final in China. In the fifth round, Roos threw 19.28 meters, just one centimeter from her indoor personal best from the World Championship in Torún 2021, the longest indoor throw since then and three centimeters from Axelina Johansson's Swedish record from earlier this year.
Roos still had nearly eight decimeters up to Chase Jackson, USA, on the bronze spot, who threw 20.06.
I'm pleased to be fourth, one centimeter from my personal best and seasonal best. I'm really pleased with that, says Fanny Roos to TV4.
Sarah Mitton, Canada, won with 20.48 and took her second consecutive World Championship indoor gold. European Champion Jessica Schilder, the Netherlands, took silver.
Sara Lennman threw a new personal record, 18.45, and finished ninth.
