"Her own experiences and education in table tennis from China, combined with her high-level playing career and pedagogical training here in Sweden, feel like a good combination," says Emma Persson, national team manager, in a press release.
Tobias Bergman stepped down as national coach earlier this year and Peter Blomqvist is currently acting national coach during a transition period ahead of the European Championship in October.
Fang Zhang, who moved to Sweden in 2004 and dominated the table tennis league for many years, will take on the role part-time in the fall and then work full-time from the turn of the year.
"I hope to be able to help build on the stable foundation that already exists," says the 42-year-old.
