The supporter who fell ill in connection with Finland's World Championship qualifying match against Poland on Tuesday evening has died, announces the police and the Finnish Football Association.
It was after just over 70 minutes of play in Finland's 2–1 win over Poland that a spectator became ill in the stands. The match was interrupted for over 40 minutes while the teams' two doctors and medical staff worked with heart-lung resuscitation.
The person was then taken to hospital but died during the night to Wednesday, according to the police.
”The national team and the Finnish Football Association express their condolences to the spectator's relatives”, writes the association in a post on X.
