The young woman was kidnapped in Rönninge, Salem, on Boxing Day night and was found dead the next day. A 26-year-old man is suspected of murdering the woman and has been arrested on probable cause on suspicion of murder and aggravated assault.
The incident has attracted a lot of attention and the family is now asking to be left alone.
Through a representative, the family told TT they are grateful for the warmth, consideration and thoughtful initiatives that so many have shown. "The support means a lot to us."
But the family also says they now need time and space, and will therefore not comment on the incident or any new information.
"We ask the media and the public to show understanding and to respect our privacy by refraining from publishing or disseminating images, names or other personal information about our daughter and other family members."
