Of the 237 municipalities that responded to the survey, 79 said it may be necessary to close schools within the next five years.
One of the municipalities is Kristinehamn, where the administration will submit proposals in a few months on what should be phased out.
"We have a decline in student numbers that means that, in a few years, we will have approximately 35 percent excess capacity in our premises. That rent will also be paid through the school budget, which is also shrinking as we have fewer children," school principal Jonas Bergman Wallin tells the radio.
