The suspected teenage boy and his defense attorney participated via video link and were not present at the detention hearing in Västmanland District Court in Västerås.
An 18-year-old man has been remanded in custody on suspicion of attacking several students at Brinell School with a sword on Friday. A 17-year-old girl died and three teenage boys were injured, two of them seriously.
The boy suspected of being an accomplice in the crime was not at the scene and has no connection to the school, according to police.
According to media reports, the now-detained 16-year-old and the 18-year-old murder suspect have had contact with each other via online forums.
Is 16 years old
According to the arrest warrant, the crimes were committed between May 1 of this year and the day of the crime, which could mean that the acts were planned over several months.
"I will not go into any details about the investigation itself and the content of the suspicion," says prosecutor Ann-Sofie Trossing.
According to information from several media outlets, the suspect is a boy from the Stockholm area. In the public court documents, his identity is classified. The prosecutor today only wants to confirm that the suspect is 16 years old.

According to Aftonbladet, police suspected early on that another person was involved in the attack in some way. This weekend, police carried out a raid in the Stockholm area and arrested the suspect at his home.
Information provided to TV4 states that the suspected boy expressed that he himself wanted to carry out a school crime.
