An American fighter plane of the type F/A-18F has fallen overboard from the aircraft carrier Harry S Truman in the Red Sea. The two pilots had to eject during the incident but could later be rescued, according to a representative for the defense to AP.
The pilots suffered minor injuries and the crew on the ship remained unharmed, according to the information.
The accident took place when it was supposed to land on the ship on Tuesday. The cause is believed to have been a problem with the device that is supposed to catch the plane during landing.
It is the second plane to fall off the ship in just over a week. Last week, another fighter plane fell overboard from the Harry Truman during towing, as the vehicle that was towing it lost control, according to a statement from the US Navy.
