Earlier this week, the English Football League (EFL) launched an investigation and subsequently made the decision to exclude Southampton from the Premier League playoff final, which will be played this weekend.
Now the English Football Association (FA) has announced that it is also launching an investigation. In a statement, it said it would look into whether to take further action.
"We will now investigate the matter and have no further comment," a spokesperson said.
