The 24-year-old was suspended in December last year after it became clear that he had tested positive. Since November, he has not played for Chelsea but all the time insisted that he did not intentionally take any prohibited substance.
Only now has a doping case been initiated concerning Mudryk.
"We can confirm that Mychajlo Mudryk has been charged with an offence against the anti-doping rules through the use of a prohibited substance", it says in a statement from FA which continues:
"As this is an ongoing case, we cannot comment further".
Chelsea has not yet commented on the development.
When Mudryk was recruited from Sjachtar Donetsk at the beginning of 2023, for a total of more than one billion kronor, he became the most expensive Ukrainian football player ever. Sjachtar donated almost a quarter of the transfer sum to the Ukrainian army.
