Biden commented on developments in the state and across the United States in a post on social media on Tuesday: "What is happening in Minneapolis over the past month betrays our most fundamental values as Americans."
“We are not a nation that shoots our own citizens,” Biden continued.

Former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, both Democrats, also condemned the events. The Obamas wrote, among other things, that "many of our fundamental values as a nation are increasingly under attack."
