Synyehubov writes on Telegram that the village of Korotych, west of Kharkiv, was particularly affected. At least 13 residential buildings were reportedly damaged and, in addition to the two deaths, at least 11 people were injured.
The Ukrainian Air Force said earlier in the night that aerial bombs had been dropped on the region.
Explosions were also heard in Kyiv. According to Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko, a fire broke out after drones hit a transport infrastructure facility.
The attacks came just hours after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed a trilateral meeting with Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, after meeting US special envoy Steve Witkoff in Oslo on Tuesday.
