Shortly after 7 pm on Sunday, several alarms were received by the police about loud bangs in the Årby district of Eskilstuna, where several notable shootings have occurred in recent years. At a bus stop in the area, a gunshot wounded man in his 20s was found and taken to hospital by ambulance.

The man died a couple of hours after arriving at the hospital.

During Sunday evening, several people were arrested on suspicion of involvement in the murder.

It's very early in the investigation stage, so I can't say what the different individuals are suspected of or what the charges look like, as it's not clear who is suspected of what, says Victor Bergman, commander at Police Region East.

During the night, a technical investigation is ongoing and several patrols are present in the area.
