The spiral of violence between Iran and the US continues in the Strait of Hormuz.
After an Iranian missile attack on two American patrol boats, the United States responded by "permanently disabling" three Iranian oil vessels, writes Centcom on X.
This prompted the Iranian Revolutionary Guard to respond, according to its own statement, by attacking three tankers that it said were on an "unauthorized route in the Strait of Hormuz" and three other ships "in other waters." None of the six ships are American.
An hour earlier, Iran's Defence Ministry had warned through a spokesperson that the military would respond if the US continued its attacks. This was similar to US Admiral Brad Cooper's warning to Iran that afternoon:
"The message to the Revolutionary Guard is clear: If you fire at two of our ships, we will inflict even greater damage on you - knock out three of yours," he said in Centcom's post on X.
