In the capital Kyiv, airstrikes were activated overnight Saturday and continued throughout the day. At least three people were killed near the capital, and another person was killed in the city of Zaporizhzhia.
The attacks came a day after at least 16 people were killed in an attack on a shopping mall in Kryvyi Rih, southern Ukraine. More than 130 people were injured in the attack and at least nine people were still missing on Saturday.
Germany condemns
Russia's brutal war of aggression has not slowed down in any way, said German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul on site in Kyiv on Saturday.
He (Putin) is deliberately terrorizing civilians, attacking civilian infrastructure with missiles and swarms of drones.
After the attack, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas also described the Russian warfare as terrorism.
"Russia wants to make Ukraine's cities impossible to live in," she writes on X and demands that further sanctions be imposed on Russia.
The issue is likely to come up in Kyiv on Monday, when a number of European heads of state and government are preparing for a summit on Ukraine's Independence Day.
France announced on Saturday that the delivery of anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine is on the way.
"It is absolutely crucial that Ukraine has access to everything necessary to protect its airspace and counter (Russia's) aggression," President Emmanuel Macron wrote on Saturday.
Ukrainian attack
Russia said on Saturday that Ukrainian drone attacks had targeted "civilian infrastructure and residential buildings in the Yeysk district."
“Two children were killed, and two adults are being treated in hospital,” said Krasnodar Region Governor Veniamin Kondratiev this morning.
Four more people were killed in further Ukrainian attacks in Russia.
Ukraine also attacked warehouses for the online retailer Ozon, a smaller competitor to Wildberries, which Ukraine has often attacked on the grounds that it distributes military-related products.
