Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on Telegram that the city had been attacked with ballistic missiles and that several buildings were on fire after the strikes.
Journalists at the AFP news agency said they heard five explosions around midnight.
A NATO summit is currently under way in the Turkish capital, Ankara, where the war in Ukraine is a major issue. Russia has carried out several major attacks on Kyiv, among other places, in the past week, and on Monday at least 30 people were killed in Ukraine, according to AFP.
