The explosion occurred outside an apartment building in the Linné district.
Everything indicates that it is a hand grenade, says Johan Ljung, duty officer at the police in region Väst to the newspaper.
No major damage appears to have occurred, but according to Ljung, shrapnel hit windows.
The alarm came to the police just after 02 and the area was cordoned off for a technical investigation. The national bomb squad was also on site during the night. By 6 o'clock on Friday, the cordons had been lifted.
According to GP, a person with vague connections to the ongoing gang conflict in Biskopsgården and the murder of rapper C. Gambino lives at the address. The person at the address is a relative of a man who worked with the rapper's music and was also threatened for it.
C. Gambino was murdered in the summer of 2024 and several of those charged with the murder have connections to the southern faction in Biskopsgården.
It's clear that there is a trail that we are looking at, says Max Olsson, local police chief Storgöteborg City, to GP.
According to Ljung, no other potentially hazardous objects have been found in the area and no people have been reported injured.
The incident is being investigated as reckless endangerment and serious offense against the law on flammable and explosive goods.
