A fire has broken out after a dust explosion in a silo at Ikea's factory in Hultsfred, according to the rescue service. No one is reported to have been injured.

We can say that we have had a dust explosion in a silo. The rescue service is on site and is working with external extinguishing, says the rescue service's lead operator.

The alarm came at 19.02. The fire is not yet under control, and the smoke development has been intense.

It has started to calm down, but we are still extinguishing with water, says incident commander Andreas Enberg.

The rescue service has no prognosis for when the operation can be completed.

There is no information about anyone being injured.

"No employees were injured and the explosion did not cause any serious damage to the factory and equipment on site", writes Ikea's press department in an email.

On April 5, a similar incident occurred at Ikea in Hultsfred. Then it was a mill that exploded, which led to a fire that spread up into a silo.

The factory is owned by the furniture company's parent company and is engaged in the manufacture of, among other things, veneer and wood-based boards.
