Police, rescue services, and ambulances were alerted at half past four.

In the apartment, a person was found who was taken to hospital. The person was awake and able to speak when we arrived at the scene, says Olga Åkerblad, the duty officer at the police. The extent of the person's injuries is uncertain but is not initially considered life-threatening.

The apartment building has been cordoned off and the national bomb squad is on its way to the scene.

At first glance, it does not appear that there are extensive damages to more apartments than the affected one. However, that may be the case, says Olga Åkerblad.

Residents of the adjacent apartments have been accommodated, reports Nerikes Allehanda.

So that we don't have people moving in and out of the house until we have assessed it as safe, says Lars Hedelin, press spokesperson for the police region of Bergslagen to the newspaper.

The police have initiated an investigation into attempted murder, general public endangerment, and offenses against the law on fire hazardous and explosive goods. The police are interviewing witnesses who may have seen or heard something in the area during the morning and will also conduct a technical investigation of the scene.
