At least seven people were injured and several more were wounded in an explosion at a Chinese restaurant in central Kabul on Monday, rescue services said.
The terrorist group ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement, according to the intelligence group SITE, which monitors online extremism.
"The Islamic State in Afghanistan has put Chinese citizens on its list of targets, with particular reference to the Chinese government's escalating crimes against the oppressed Uyghur Muslims," IS said in its statement.
Chinese business travelers have flocked to Afghanistan since the Taliban took back power in 2021. The following year, IS claimed responsibility for an attack on a hotel popular with Chinese visitors.
