A residential building in Ekhagen in Jönköping was hit by an explosion during the night towards Wednesday.
We received an alarm about loud bangs at 03.07 and when we arrived at the scene, it was still smoking. We have not found any injured person, but rather some damage to the house, says Oscar Palmgren, commander at police region East.
It was still not known in the morning what had exploded.
The national bomb squad was called to the scene and a crime scene investigation was carried out. During the work, the residents were evacuated and the area was cordoned off.
A preliminary investigation into general endangerment and gross crime regarding fire hazardous and explosive goods has been initiated.
There is still no suspect and the police are seeking witness statements.
