An explosion has occurred in a weapons depot near the capital Damascus in Syria. The weapons storage was used by the ousted regime under Bashar al-Assad, according to the British-based Syrian Human Rights Observatory (SOHR).
"Loud bangs were heard in the capital region", according to SOHR, which hinted that Israel may have been behind an attack on the weapons depot. The claim is denied by Israel.
The explosion occurred in the Kiswah region.
From northern Syria, reports are emerging of clashes between militant groups that are pro-Turkish and fighting against the Kurdish SDF. Over 100 fighters have been killed in the past two days, with a majority belonging to pro-Turkish groups, according to SOHR.
The clashes have been most intense around the city of Manbij.
