"An internal explosion occurred in one of the factories in the Ras Laffan industrial zone as a result of a technical incident and the civil defense launched an operation," the country's interior ministry wrote in a statement on Sunday evening.
A short while later, the ministry published a new statement saying that the incident led to "a number of injuries," without specifying how many people were injured or how serious the injuries were.
The fossil gas terminal was damaged in March when it was hit by Iranian drones and missiles in connection with the US and Israel's war against Iran.
