The damage to the school is limited, according to Mayor Femke Halsema. No injuries have been reported.
Halsema, the police and the judiciary consider the incident a targeted attack on the Jewish community, the Telegraaf reports.
“Amsterdam should be a place where Jews can live in safety,” Halsema tells the newspaper.
The police are analyzing footage from surveillance cameras in which a person is seen detonating an explosive device, the Telegraaf reports.
On Friday, four men were arrested after an explosion outside a synagogue in Rotterdam, according to the AFP news agency. A synagogue in Liège, Belgium, was also attacked earlier this week.
