A powerful explosion occurred during the night at an apartment building in Johanneberg in Gothenburg. A gate was blown out and several windows in the vicinity were shattered, says Magnus Schildt, police officer on duty. No one was injured.

The police received several calls about the explosion, which was heard in large parts of the inner city at 00.40 on Friday night.

Residents in the area testify to "an unprecedented blow," reports Göteborgs-Posten .

"I felt a pressure wave in my chest. I've never experienced anything like this before," a neighbor told the newspaper.

The incident is being investigated as a public nuisance, and there are currently no suspects.

What may be behind the incident is too early to say, according to police.

We are looking at many different options, but part of this is to see if there may be any connection to ongoing conflicts in Gothenburg, says press spokesperson Christian Brattgård.
