Explosion in Gothenburg – bomb squad called in

An explosion occurred at a building in Johanneberg in Gothenburg on Friday night, the rescue service confirms. No one is reported to have been injured, the police write on their website.

A gate and windows along the facade were damaged in the explosion, the rescue service said in a press release. The building is otherwise intact.

The police are on site in the area together with the emergency services and have cordoned off the area pending the national bomb disposal unit. The incident is being investigated as a public nuisance.

Residents in the area testify to "an unprecedented blow," reports Göteborgs-Posten .

"I felt a pressure wave in my chest. I've never experienced anything like this before," a neighbor told the newspaper.
