Spotify predicts "a full-scale Norwegian summer" with new songs by, among others, Soppgirobygget and Søte og Rare Gutter – artists booked at festivals in Sweden during the summer months. Robert Sehlberg, music chief at Viaplay Group, believes that summer 2025 will be dominated.
Swedish music is very strong during the summer half-year and there are primarily two songs that I believe will become really big, he says.
One is Victor Leksell's single "Lys på mig", which according to Sehlberg is a perfect recipe for a summer hit.
It's an incredible song and it really captures the summer feeling, like an old commercial for Pripps Blå.
The other is Tjuvjakts "Tusen spänn", featuring Fanny Avonne, an artist that Spotify also believes in for the summer.
It has a real power and feels like a strong Swedish song. Many are already talking about it now, so it can probably become really big.
"Like Christmas carols"
But there are also older songs that he believes will come back.
Certain hits are like Christmas carols, they come back every year by tradition. For example, songs by Ted Gärdestad and Gyllene Tider.
Mari Hesthammer, music editor and presenter at P3, is on the same track and lifts Veronica Maggio as such an artist.
She has really established herself as a summer artist. It may have to do with nostalgia, or that we move in slightly more festive contexts during the summer, where those songs belong.
When it comes to new additions, she brings up "What was that", by New Zealander Lorde, as a possible summer song.
We play it a lot already now. Even Miley Cyrus, who has released singles leaning towards disco-pop, is already popular.
Tiktok-hit
Among the Swedish songs, she believes that Agnes' new single "Balenciaga covered eyes" can become a hit.
It represents summer's sweaty dance-pop.
Among the possible summer plagues, there is also a Tiktok-hit. Lola Young's "Messy" spread like wildfire on the platform last winter and so far, there are no signs of decreased interest.
It's still going strong. Now she has also released a new single, "One thing", which will probably also be played a lot this summer.
