In a press release, Västra Götaland Region writes that the board has decided to appoint an external expert group to quality-assure the work and provide independent support when the region will continue working with the healthcare information system.
The chairman of the regional board, Helén Eliasson (S), says in a statement that the next time a new system is introduced, the goal is that it will be well-tested by the employees.
"The region will make a small-scale introduction and the southern area of the region will not be the first to introduce it. Furthermore, the regional board assesses that an external expert group is needed for quality assurance of action alternatives, as we decided today."
A number of other measures will be implemented, including an external investigation into the culture of silence in the region.
The journal system Millennium was supposed to facilitate healthcare in Västra Götaland. Instead, the introduction failed from the start and was stopped in November due to technical problems and massive protests from the staff.
