The African Cup of Nations final ended in chaos. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has now fined both Senegal and Morocco.

CAF suspends Senegal national team captain Pape Thiaw for five matches, and he will be fined nearly one million kronor for unsportsmanlike conduct during the final against Morocco on January 18. Two players, Iliman Ndiaye and Ismaila Sarr, are suspended for two matches.

The Senegalese Football Association will also be fined over five million kronor for unsportsmanlike conduct by the team and supporters.

Senegal won the final after extra time in a dramatic finish. With the score 0–0 in extra time, Senegal had a goal disallowed. Shortly afterwards, Morocco was awarded a penalty, which prompted Senegalese fans to attempt to storm the pitch, while Pape Thiaw ordered his players off the pitch.
