The government is relaxing the rules for protective hunting of wild boar. It will now be permitted to shoot a wild boar within 200 meters of land with agricultural crops or commercial horticulture.

The rules apply to land that has previously suffered damage from wild boars and where they are needed to prevent further damage.

"It will be easier for farmers to protect their crops from wild boars. We are now improving the rules for protective hunting. These measures can also contribute to reducing the wild boar population," says Minister of Rural Affairs Peter Kullgren (KD) in a press release.

According to current rules, hunting rights holders are only allowed to conduct protective hunting when a wild boar is on cultivated land.
