The newspaper Hem&Hyra has investigated the incident in Ystad in 2017 and has shown that another tenant raised the alarm about black soot under the skirting boards and a strange smell as early as 2004. It was investigated by the municipality, which concluded it was exhaust fumes from a garage in the building and sealing was initiated.

The fact that it started leaking again may have been due to subsidence or cracks in the property, believes Ystadbostäder's current CEO.

The woman affected in 2017 has residual effects from the poisoning.

In summary, it can be stated that probably many things have gone wrong, CEO Jimmie Persson tells the newspaper.
