Denmark's former Minister for Business Henrik Sass Larsen (S) is sentenced to four months in prison for possession of thousands of images showing abuse of children.

In total, it is about more than 6,200 images and more than 2,200 film sequences, according to the indictment.

Sass Larsen was Minister for Business and Growth in Denmark in 2013–2015. He denies the crime, but admits to possession of child images with sexual content. This he explains by saying that he conducted private investigations.

Sass Larsen states that he has been looking for people who abused him when he was two to three years old in the 1960s.

Prosecutor Maria Cingari has during the trial dismissed his explanation:

It is my clear impression that it is unlikely and fabricated, she says according to the news agency Ritzau.

Sass Larsen has also been charged with possession of a child sex doll, but in that part he is acquitted because the court has not been able to establish that there was a sexual purpose with the doll.

He himself has said that the doll was something he got with a purchase on the internet.

Sass Larsen spoke during the conclusion of the trial to others who have been subjected to sexual abuse as children and apologized:

I have damaged our cause and our joint work.
