Evgeni Malkin turns 40 this summer, signs one-year extension with Pittsburgh

Russian NHL star Evgeni Malkin turns 40 this summer - and is celebrating by extending his career. He has signed for another season with Pittsburgh.

The star forward will be playing his 21st season in Pittsburgh, and his one-year extension is worth $5.5 million, equivalent to just over 51 million kronor.

Evgeni Malkin scored 61 points, 19 goals and 42 assists in 56 games last season. He is the third-highest scorer in club history with 1,407 points. Only Sidney Crosby (1,761 points) and Mario Lemieux (1,723) have more.

Evgeni Malkin has won three Stanley Cup titles with Pittsburgh, the NHL's scoring title twice, and two World Cup gold medals with Russia.

Now his career continues alongside Swedish teammates Erik Karlsson, Rickard Rakell, Elmer Söderblom and Filip Hållander.
