"It's no wonder that accidents happen," says Malin Ragnegård, chairwoman of the Municipal Association, in a press release.
A majority of drivers in Kommunal's member survey also find it difficult to make time for toilet visits and coffee breaks.
"Bus drivers report that they can barely take a short break, while at the same time they have to drive a bus full of people in often stressful traffic or difficult road conditions," says Ragnegård.
In the member survey, 52 percent said they can take a proper lunch break, while the remaining 48 percent have great difficulty taking a longer break, the union writes.
