Eva-Stina Byggmästar and Ingela Strandberg both receive the Grand Prize of Samfundet De Nio. This is the first time since 1990 that two winners have been awarded.
The prize money is 400,000 kronor and is awarded to each of the winners.
Eva-Stina Byggmästar is a Finland-Swedish poet, artist, and essayist. She receives the prize with the motivation "For a rich lyrical authorship with original playfulness at the bottom, overlaid with a sense, intense love experience, and Zen-like wise wisdom."
Ingela Strandberg is a poet, writer, playwright, and translator. She receives the prize with the following motivation: "With a wild, existential power, Ingela Strandberg moves through the lives of animals and humans on earth. In a strange way, her poetry casts a tender and revealing light over us all."
Samfundet De Nio is a literary academy established in 1913 with the purpose of promoting Swedish fiction. Last year, the prize went to Göran Greider.
