The Gustaf Fröding Society rewards Dahlgren for her ability "to persistently analyze and reflect on life, freedom, love and man's place on earth."
The jury also highlights her integrity as a songwriter. She is described as a "poet in the world of music."
"That the Gustaf Fröding Society links my writing with his in this way is an honor I haven't really taken it in yet. I hope Gustaf is pleased. I am forever grateful to be in his sphere," says Eva Dahlgren about the award.
The Gustaf Fröding Society's poetry prize has been awarded to prominent Swedish-language poets since 1990. Previous recipients include Tomas Tranströmer, Ylva Eggehorn, Kristina Lugn and Ola Magnell. The prize money is 25,000 kronor.
