"Revalution club" is Eva Dahlgren's 16th album and the follow-up to last year's English-language "Alphabet City Songs".
Necessity
She describes the new album as a big thank you to the arts. "We live in a society where art and culture have been dismantled and given less and less value for several years," she says:
"It gets worse and worse with each passing year and I wanted to write about the necessity of art for humanity. The artistic language is what separates us from the rest of all living things - and we need to give it more space and place in our lives," she says.
Writing in Swedish again after the English-language project felt natural for Dahlgren:
"Swedish is my language and I love it. Our language is very special with many consonants, and that makes the melodies a little different too," she says.
“Made a mistake”
In conjunction with the album release, a major tour in Sweden, Finland and Denmark is expected to start this fall. Dahlgren has booked both concert halls and clubs because last year's meager three shows were "a big mistake".
"I made a mistake. It went completely crazy with so few concerts. We had rehearsed a lot - and then it just ended!? Now I'm finally doing a proper Scandinavian tour," she says.
When Dahlgren soon goes on tour, however, it won't just be songs from the new album that the audience will hear. She - who has huge hits like "Ängeln i rummet" (1991) in her catalogue - feels a responsibility to also play older songs.
"I know for myself how wonderful it is to hear old songs from artists you like. I'm not actually on stage just for myself - I'm there for those who listen to me."
