Tuesday's green light opens up the equivalent of SEK 93 million in support from the EU's Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF). The money will go towards initiatives that help the unemployed find new jobs, training or start their own businesses. The support was voted through with 578 votes in favour to 54 against. 30 members abstained.
The Swedes were unexpectedly divided in the vote. On the yes side, members from M, L, S, V and MP voted yes. On the other hand, there was a no from SD, KD and C.
