The sentiment among investors in the eurozone is negative but not quite as gloomy in May as it was in April, according to the monthly Sentix index.
The main index rose to minus 8.1, up from minus 19.5 percent.
The forecast among analysts averaged minus 11.5 percent in May, according to a compilation of forecasts made by Bloomberg.
The sub-index for the current situation rose to minus 19.3 percent from minus 23.3 percent in April. As for future confidence, it rose to plus 8 percent, up from minus 15.8 percent in April.
The index from the German analysis institute Sentix measures confidence in economic activity in the currency area.
