Eurozone inflation nears target

Inflation in the euro area is moving closer to the European Central Bank's two percent target, figures from Eurostat show.

Consumer prices at an annual rate landed at 2.1 percent in October, which was in line with expectations and slightly below September's annual rate of 2.2 percent.

Core inflation in the euro area came in unchanged at 2.4 percent at an annual rate. It was expected to fall slightly to 2.3 percent.

In France, inflation is well below the inflation target of two percent, while German inflation reached 2.3 percent annually. Inflation is highest in Estonia, which reached an annual rate of 4.5 percent.
