Eurozone inflation higher than expected at 2.6 percent in March

Analysts had expected inflation to average 2.5 percent, according to Bloomberg's compilation of forecasts.

The rise is seen, among other factors, as a result of the war in Iran and developments in the Middle East.

The European Central Bank's inflation target is 2.0 percent.
