The singer won the 70th Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna on Saturday with her "Banagaranga" - meaning 'resurrection' - and thus gave Bulgaria the country's first-ever victory in the competition.

However, it wasn't just fans waving their country's flags and cheering on the 27-year-old as she landed at Sofia's Vasil Levski Airport. Mayor Vassil Terziev was on hand to assure residents that the capital is ready to host next year's edition.

Bulgarian television broadcast live from the airport and President Iliana Yotova said the win was a "triumph for Bulgaria".

The winner herself stated that the victory "marks the beginning of my future international career".
