Stock markets fall broadly as rising interest rates and oil prices weigh on investor sentiment

Among the most heavily traded stocks in the OMXS30 index, mining group Boliden fell the most, down 1.6 percent. But the decline was broad, with 26 of the 30 OMXS30 stocks in the red.

US 10-year interest rates are once again around their highest levels since 2002, after the price of North Sea oil (Brent) rose 3.1 percent to $103.30 per barrel on the futures market.

US plans for new attacks on Iran, fighting in Yemen and new attacks by Iran-backed Houthi rebels against Saudi Arabia are unsettling the market.

The Stockholm Stock Exchange's OMXS index fell 1.6 percent on Wednesday. The rise since the start of the year has now shrunk to 5.7 percent after Thursday's fall.
