No just and lasting peace in Ukraine without Europe's democracies participating in the negotiations.
This is stated by France's Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot after a meeting in Paris with colleagues from, among others, Germany, Spain, and the United Kingdom – and the USA's Marco Rubio.
The German and Spanish ministers added that no decisions can be made without Ukrainian approval.
Sweden's Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard (M) emphasizes the importance of Ukraine participating in the negotiations.
"Only a peace that Ukraine achieves through strength can be sustainable. No peace can be negotiated without Ukraine, and it must have Ukraine's – and Europe's – security at its center", she says in a written comment to TT.
"A peace negotiated from a weak position would only encourage further Russian aggression", she continues.
