After massive criticism, the president of FIFA, the International Football Association Board, convened his leadership team. In a press release, FIFA apologised for the ruined World Cup plan, but at the same time made clear that Infantino refuses to resign and will not tolerate an attack on FIFA's "integrity."

"This document will become a cornerstone of surrealist literature. It is completely dystopian," a senior football executive told The Telegraph.

According to the newspaper, leaders from both Europe and Concacaf (the North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football Confederation) are now trying to gather enough support to bring down Infantino in a vote of no confidence or launch a challenger for the presidency.
