Behind the call are 18 European countries addressing both parties in the ongoing conflict, including in southern Lebanon.
"We call on Israel to fully respect Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity," the countries write, while also demanding that Hezbollah cease attacks and that civilian targets be protected. Over 1,200 people have been killed in the conflict.
Lebanon was drawn into the conflict after Shiite Muslim Hezbollah fired rockets at Israel. Israel has responded with a major offensive.
Behind the European call are countries both within and outside the EU.
