Jim Gottfridsson has won European Championship gold, World Championship silver and several other championship medals. Now the national team veteran can add a comic-book character to his list of achievements. He appears under the name "Tim Getskäggsson" in the latest issue of Kalle Anka. "I've read Kalle Anka myself, so it's great to be on the cover now," says the 33-year-old.

Ahead of the Women's Handball European Championship last year, Jamina Roberts, among others, became a comic character in Kalle Anka, and previously Armand Duplantis and Zlatan Ibrahimović have graced the cover of the classic comic book.

Now it's Jim Gottfridsson's turn - as "Tim Getskäggsson".

"It was a strange sense of pride when I was asked. I didn't actually know the name myself. But I think it's really fun," he says.

"Tim Getskäggsson" is joined in the series by, among others, "Tobias Gnissel" (Danish star Mathias Gidsel).

The issue coincides with the European Handball Championship, which will kick off later this week in Malmö, Herning (Denmark) and Oslo, among others.

For Sweden, their first match is against the Netherlands on Saturday.

"In a way, I see it as confirmation that I've done something good for a long time. I've been something of a profile for handball, so of course it feels fun," says Jim Gottfridsson.
