European car sales rise – Tesla plummets

New car registrations in the EU increased by 5.8 percent in October compared to last year, according to statistics from the industry association Acea. This is the fourth consecutive month of increasing trend.

A total of 916,609 new cars were registered in October. Electric and hybrid cars took increasing market shares while sales of gasoline and diesel cars fell.

Tesla car sales fell 48 percent in October compared to the same month last year. The car brand now accounts for 0.6 percent of the market share.

New registrations of Volvo Cars also fell, down 5.3 percent compared to the same month last year. The carmaker accounted for 2.6 percent of the market share in October.

This year, hybrid cars, including plug-in hybrids, have accounted for 43.7 percent of all new car registrations, while electric cars have accounted for 16.4 percent.
