On Tuesday, Owen Ansah finished third in the men's 100 metres, taking Germany's first European Championship medal in the event in 40 years.
Ansah is also being investigated by the German anti-doping agency Nada, after he allegedly refused to take a doping test on July 9. The sprinter, for his part, believes the official showed up outside the scheduled time window and that he was on his way to the airport at the time.
Nada is calling for a four-year suspension for Ansah, who, if convicted, will have all of his results since July 9 erased.
After the European Championship bronze medal, Ansah said that he was not afraid of losing the medal.
"I trust my team. I can't influence anything else, I can only influence how fast I am," he says, according to Bild .
