Euro Area GDP Growth Surpasses Expectations in First Quarter

European economy shows positive signs, despite tariffs. During the first quarter, the euro area's GDP increased by 0,4 percent compared to the previous quarter. Compared to the corresponding quarter in 2024, the increase was 1,2 percent according to Eurostat's new figures.

The increase of 0,4 percent was twice as large as analysts on average had expected according to Bloomberg's compilation of forecasts.
